Don’t Miss These Fun Experiments to do in the Kitchen!
Gather round your kitchen tables and follow Hollie as she demonstrates kitchen science experiments! In these 20-30 minute video sessions, you’ll have virtual and hands-on fun by doing the experiments step by step with Hollie. Take note of the materials suggested for each of the activities in the descriptions below.
Bubbles
Color Mixing: Baking soda, vinegar, cookie tray or dish, medicine dropper or spoon, food coloring
Bubble Snakes: Pie Plate or dish, dish soap, water, a sock (this is a good use of the socks missing their match!), empty plastic water bottles
Mixtures
Magic Mixing Milk: Milk, bowl, food coloring, q-tips or toothpicks, dish soap
Mystery Mixture: Cornstarch, water, bowl, spoon, food coloring, water
Water
Warm & Cold: Warm water, ice water, food coloring, clear bowl or drinking glass
Sink or Float: Aluminum foil, objects to test if they sink or float!
Light and Shadows
Family Hidden Pictures: A few sheets of paper for each family member (copy paper works best), drawing tool such as marker, crayon, or pencil, flashlight
Shadow Tracing: Building bricks (LEGO® bricks or similar, or small building blocks), flashlight, paper, drawing tool such as marker, crayon, or pencil.
