A District-Wide Classroom Build, from Blueprint to First Bell

Multi-phased approach to delivering a fully equipped early learning center

The Challenge

Enrollment in the Lindenwold School district (New Jersey) had grown 800 students beyond the capacity of its existing facilities, placing added demand on its elementary and middle schools. At the same time, the district's preschool program operated from a rented five-story building with aging infrastructure and limited amenities.

In response, the district built an Early Learning Center consisting of 45 classrooms, five specialty rooms, and an outdoor learning space designed to consolidate preschool, kindergarten, and first-grade students under one roof.

Upon securing funding and a groundbreaking date, the district still needed the right early learning supply partner who could deliver an environment fully aligned with the HighScope^® play-based model. The partner needed to move in tandem with construction and deliver a center ready for students by August 2025.

The Solution

The district needed more than a supplier – they needed a single partner who could carry the project from design through opening day. Becker's served as that partner, providing a single point of contact for classroom design, warehousing and preparation of FF&E, delivery, installation, and final walkthrough.

Phase 1: Discovery & Design

Becker's education team conducted in-depth meetings with district leadership before proposing a single product, learning how educators planned to teach and how children would move through each space. Becker's then worked alongside the construction architect so that furniture placement, power access, and room flow were proactively resolved before walls went up.

Phase 2: Warehousing & Preparation

The goal was for teachers to walk into fully arranged, fully equipped classrooms on day one. To make that possible, the warehouse team unboxed every product from manufacturer packaging, pre-assembled all furniture, and organized materials into classroom-specific center bags. Everything was then re-packed into protective boxes, staged on pallets by classroom and by center — with every pallet clearly labeled for its destination before it left the facility.

Phase 3: Delivery & Setup

Delivery required 22 full-size truckloads. Before a single pallet crossed any threshold, crews labeled rooms and protected every finished surface, from floors to doors to walls. The gym served as the central staging area where pallets were organized, then distributed to their respective rooms, each set up to match its approved floor plan down to center placement. All packaging and debris were removed upon completion.

Phase 4: Final Walkthrough

Before the handoff, Becker's territory manager personally inspected all 50 rooms, with a thorough understanding of each room's layout, assigned age group, and the materials designated for every space.

The Results

The Lindenwold Early Learning Center opened on time for the 2025-26 school year, resolving a district-wide overcrowding challenge years in the making and giving every enrolled child a place to learn.

Zero backorders – Every product on the approved list arrived on time, with no substitutions, delays, or gaps on opening day.

Full compliance – The center met all New Jersey child care licensing, building code, and environmental rating standards, fully documented and ready for review.

Instruction-ready rooms – Teachers walked into classrooms that were staged, stocked, and set up according to plan. No furniture to move, items to assemble, or materials to track down.

A district made whole – For the first time in years, every child in Lindenwold had a seat. The center didn't just open; it delivered on a promise to the entire community.

The result wasn't simply an on-time opening. It was a fully operational learning center ready to welcome every child on day one.
