River Rocks
• Use the River Rocks in Becker’s Science Activity Center to identify ways that birds use rocks.
• Practice building a rock nest to protect and camouflage bird eggs.
• Support young children as they use fine motor skills to explore ways that birds use rocks to grind their food.
Seashells
• Seashells are included in Becker’s Science Activity Center and are wonderful materials for helping children develop their classification and sorting skills.
• Children can practice their observation skills to identify properties of the various seashells.
• You can go one step further and explore how mollusks make different types of seashells through a layering process.
Tree Rings

• Create shadow trees to connect growth in height and width.
Sink or Float
• This is an engaging activity to challenge children’s thinking and explore the best way to raise a boat in water.
• Observe children as they experiment to discover the best tool to accomplish the task.
• Encourage children as they use prior knowledge, inquiry and scientific reasoning to solve a challenge.
