Sand & Water Play Activities in Winter for Preschoolers

Yes, you can introduce sand and water play activities for preschoolers in the winter!

  1. Scoop up cranberries in the water table!


  2. Add chunks of ice and small Artic animal figures.


  3. What happens on the beach when it snows?  Make predictions and plan an experiment next time it snows.


  4. Hide magnetic letters in the sand.  Use magnetic wands to locate them.


  5. Learn to reuse and recycle.  Bring in items from home that can be reused as sand toys (paper towel rolls, plastic containers, milk jugs, etc.).

Tortilla Time!

Did you know about all of the fun preschoolers can have with tortillas? Here are some ideas!

  1. Banana Wrap - Spread peanut butter on tortilla, add whole banana, wrap, slice into bite size pieces.


  2. Cinnamon Sugar Treats - Brush tortilla with melted butter and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar, roll, slice and eat.


  3. Mini Taco Bar - Make your own taco for snack.


  4. Ants in a Log - Spread cream cheese, add raisins, roll up and eat.


  5. What's your favorite?  Have a tasting table with a variety of tortillas (flour, corn, multigrain). Graph the results.
