This is a feel good book. It’s filled with happy children working and playing together; taking care of people and places in kind and generous ways; and sharing love with every living thing on the planet! It’s almost too much kindness to fit inside one book!
It’s a book that puts children at center stage. Children from here, there, and everywhere are striving to make our world a kinder, better place. Every spread bursts with energy - kids doing, laughing, building, sharing, helping, dancing, parading, and so much more. It’s a jubilee from start to finish.
Every dream you’ve ever had about how the world should be, is here for all of us to see. If kids ran the world it would be filled with enough food, shelter, and medicine for everyone. Children and adults would laugh more, act silly, love learning, live in loving homes, and be safe and healthy. “And that’s why, if kids ran the world, we’d make it a wonderful place for everyone to live - ” so it says on the final page of the book!
The endnotes in this book include examples of what these lofty ideas look like in everyday reality. From simple lemonade stands to volunteer efforts large and small, children are working diligently to make a difference. On the very last page, the authors provide some inspirational quotes from Franklin D. Roosevelt. He advocated for jobs, decent housing, medical care, and a quality education for all. As President Roosevelt said in one of his speeches “For unless there is security here at home, there cannot be lasting peace in the world.”
