Learning Domains:
Language Development; Literacy; Physical Development & Health
Set the Stage:
Circle Time

Depending on the ages and abilities of the children, try different motions to go with the lyrics. For “Ride, Ride, Ride,” show children how they can lay on their backs and pedal their legs as if they’re on a bike.  For “Merrily, Merrily, Merrily, Merrily,” try moving your arms in a circular motion (just like you do in The Wheels on The Bus Go Round and Round).

I Ride, Ride, Ride My Bike
(To the tune of Row, Row, Row Your Boat)
Lyrics by Leslie Eslinger, Becker's School Supplies, 2013

I ride, ride, ride my bike
Carefully in the yard;
Merrily, Merrily, Merrily, Merrily,
Watch me pedal hard!

I ride, ride, ride my bike
Carefully at my school;
Merrily, Merrily, Merrily, Merrily,
Isn’t my helmet cool?
I ride, ride, ride my bike
Carefully all day long;
Merrily, Merrily, Merrily, Merrily,
Now I’m big and strong!

Follow Up:

Can you make up some of your own verses?
Did you hear the word “carefully” in our song? What does “carefully” mean?
The song says that riding a bike can make you big and strong. Do you think that’s true?
Make a class poster called “I like to bike ride because. . .”
